Introducing the World of Tenebris – Animals of Tenebris: Shadowjays
Shadow-jay; plural Shadowjays

One of many animals mentioned in my young adult fantasy trilogy, shadowjays are a large bird native to Tenebris that are said to be able to restore magic to the land by sacrificing themselves. Nearly all black with streaks of gray and a hint of blue, shadowjays are fickle creatures and not easily found. Reclusive, these birds have a slight tuft of feathers on their head like a cap and gray stomachs. A songbird, the shadowjay’s song is rare, just as rare as spotting one. If you do find yourself within the vicinity, take a moment to listen and see experience its soothing song.
